Pliny used honey for the treatment of deep and festering wounds, and the famous Greek physician Galen - for poisoning. For the Romans, honey was useful for preserving valuable game. But Avicenna said: "If you want to stay young, then by all means eat honey."
Looking at the chemical composition of honey, it is sugar of natural origin. Flower honey contains: •40% fructose; • ~30% glucose; 1-5% sucrose, as well as maltose and other sugars of natural origin. Although the sugar part of honey is the main one, it is not the only one. Honey also contains enzymes, vitamins and minerals added by bees, as well as various volatile, fragrant substances contained in nectar plants. It is this part that is very important, because the healing properties of honey are thanks to her.
